Yohmor al-Chaqif: voices that revive the soul and heritage (Part one)

While preparing to write Yohmor al-Chaqif: History and Memory, I held many conversations with loved ones, most of whom have passed into the mercy of God. Fortunately, I recorded some of these conversations between 2005 and the end of 2010.

Because their voices and language touch the depths of the heart and carry us to the village's welcoming homes and the spontaneity of its people, because the living are the bridge by which our ancestors' heritage reaches children and grandchildren, because after our certain return we will find our village profoundly changed, and because the umbilical bond between us is stronger than every barrier, I wanted to share what I have, so that their images and voices may live forever. May mercy embrace those who have died and those who live.
